Ball Mills
Ball Mills. In ceramics, ball mills are used to grind down materials into very fine particles. Materials such as clay and glaze components can be broken down in a ball mill by getting placed into rotating or rolling jars with porcelain balls inside them. During milling, the porcelain balls pulverized the materials into an incredibly fine powder.

Ball Mill Application and Design
Ball mills cab be used equally well for wet or dry grinding. In the case of wet grinding the particles are also dispersed in the liquid medium. For temperature sensitive products, ball mills can be fully jacketed to maintain temperatures of the product. Ball mills scale up well and in fact improve in performed with increasing size.
1/16 Ballnose speed and feed rate
You will dull your bits prematurely at that feed rate. I know a Shark won't move very quickly, but on my larger machine I would run that bit at 300-400 ipm (X,Y,Z axis) and 18000rpm. At 0.005" per pass, your machine will not feel much if any resistance from the cut. So I'd go as fast as your machine is capable of going without losing steps.
General | Ball End mill speeds | Practical Machinist
Since most likely your doin this on a manual machine, run the RPMs up till the chips start to discolor and back it off some. I've also had trouble figuring out an "optimal" SPM on ballnose E.M.s Luckily with CAD/CAM and on a CNC I can rough out evrything with a flat E.M. then go back and "surface" the rest with a ballnose.
Ball Mill
8.3.2.2 Ball mills. The ball mill is a tumbling mill that uses steel balls as the grinding media. The length of the cylindrical shell is usually 1–1.5 times the shell diameter (Figure 8.11 ). The feed can be dry, with less than 3% moisture to minimize ball coating, or slurry containing 20–40% water by weight.

Ball Mill (Ball Mills Explained)
Crushed ore is fed to the ball mill through the inlet; a scoop (small screw conveyor) ensures the feed is constant. For both wet and dry ball mills, the ball mill is charged to …
Feeds and Speeds Spreadsheet
Still, I agree that at least theoretical chip load should be included in a feeds and speeds spreadsheet. It is not a problem of measurement. The problem is that even at the lowest setting the RPM is too fast to have optimal chip loads at the feedrates the X-carve can achieve. I've definitely experienced this.
Deep Slotting With Ball Endmill?
I would also suggest an undersized shank if you cut with a regular endmill then finish with the ballmill. Depends upon the company name for their line but the spherical ballmills can work in a situation like this. In this form the cutting surface may go to 220 degrees or larger rather than the typical 180 degree cutting surface on a regular ...

What is a Ball Mill? | Economy Ball Mill
What is a Ball Mill? A ball mill is a type of grinder that uses metal balls or other grinding mediums to reduce the size of various materials. The material to be ground is placed in a cylindrical container that spins on its axis. The metal balls or grinding media inside the container hits the material and breaks it down into smaller particles.

CNC Feeds & Speeds Formula (How to Calculate Feed Rate)
Imperial: RPM =12 x cutting speed (feet per minute) / pi x D (inches) D is your tool's diameter in inches. In the next step, we calculate the feed rate. Feed rate = RPM x chip load x number of teeth. This formula gives you feed rate in IPM or mm/min based on whether you used the metric or imperial table.

Temperature Reduction for Ball Mill Optimization | Lechler US
Heat taken away by ventilation systems can accounts for roughly 20% of the total heat discharged by the ball mill. Improving that ventilation system brings more cool air into the inside of the ball bill, gradually reducing the internal temperature. However, the major benefit of using ball mills is the product fineness they can deliver.
