The six main steps of iron ore processing
Magnetised drums collect magnetic material, so it can be further concentrated (magnetite iron minerals content). The lighter particles that were separated during the spiral gravity separation step are rolled into balls (combined with bentonite or a similar binding agent) and cooked in an induction oven. This process is known as pelletisation.

ADVANCES IN MAGNETIC SEPARATION OF ORES
The first equipment used in magnetic separation of nepheline syenite is a low-intensity, large-diameter drum separator to remove highly magnetic minerals -primarily magnetite or mixtures of magnetite and other elements. The magnetics removed by this electromagnetic separator are placed in a storage pile or sold as byproduct magnetite.

How to Extract Iron from Hematite: Methods and Plants
It is easy to extract iron from this kind of haematite by using gravity separation and magnetic separation. Medium-grained hematite refers to iron ore with an embedded particle size between 0.02 and 2mm. This type of hematite is also relatively easy to select, mainly using gravity separation, magnetic separation and magnetic roasting.

The curve was calculated for an SPION magnetite core density of 5.24 g/cm 3 and based on data from (Williams et al., 2010; Yamaura et al., 2004). The broken line represents a typical approximation used in magnetic microparticle separation simulations. Note characteristic values of saturation magnetization, M s and the saturation field, H s.
