HELP WITH PULVERIZER PROBLEM AND STIRLING ENGINE
A yellorium reactor is surprisingly useful even in early game, once you have a few stacks of iron and coal, and of course a bit of yellorite ore. As for powering machinery, if something does not work, try connecting stuff via conduits. That way you also get MJ output. The primary power in Tekkit is Redstone Flux (RF) now.

engine wrong direction
As rogueclon said, you can only change direction of a block if there is another valid orientation for it to change to. In case of engines, you usually only have one power recipient attached, so they will automatically turn towards that. Only if you placed the power recipient after the engine, it might take a whack with the wrench to snap the ...

Can't Power Pulverizer? (Feed the Beast Horizons)
The Pulverizer uses between 2400 (for most gemstone ores) and 4000 (for most metals) RF per Operation. And Charcoal is worth 24K RF, so that's 6 Per for most metals. Steel Crusher vs Pulverizer is about equal in efficiency then for Ore usage, with the Pulverizer pulling ahead if you are crushing gems/wool/other stuff.

My pulverizer don't even work!!!
Dont pulverize ore, smelt them with sand using induction smelter. Smelting ore with IS gives you a 5% chance for rich slag. Rich slag + ore in IS gives you 3 ingots from one ore. The only ore from over world you are supose to run throu a pulverizer are Ferrous ore cause that gives you a 10% chance to get a pulverized shiney metal.

The Quartz Grind Stone provides a low-tech solution for grinding ores. It is much cheaper than its more high-tech counter parts, but it is slow and a considerable time sink.
