Detrital minerals (Fig. 15) are present within the carbonate facies but their abundance is relatively low (in general <7%). Most detrital minerals are silt to fine sand-size grains, and are comprised of K-feldspar, albite, quartz and mica. These detrital minerals can be incorporated within spherulites, shrubs and mud and they occur in pore spaces.
